In some applications it is not possible to use Y-Type Strainers because the element (or basket) is accessed via the underside of the housing or body. Simplex & T-Type Strainers provide access to the element (or basket) via the topside of the housing or body. This type of strainer is designed to be installed in-line with the pipeline axis though, it can also be installed in offset and right angled piping configurations.
